Rev. Fr. Kevin Oodo, SJ
Xavier Jesuit School (XJS) is part of the worldwide family of schools run by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). It shares a common vision and philosophy derived from the writings of the founder of the Jesuits, St. Ignatius of Loyola, and the educational philosophy of the Society of Jesus.
Although all Jesuit schools are linked in that they draw from the same educational philosophies, each school is unique in the way it adapts to its particular circumstances. Xavier Jesuit School is a premier Jesuits-run Catholic school in Liberia. Jesuits have established their reputation worldwide in running excellent academic institutions where students’ success is measured both in character and learning. Although Catholic, we are also known for welcoming students of all faith and strive to form them into men and women for others. With over 450 years of experience in Education and youth formation, we hope to contribute to the improvement of education in Liberia and its environs.
This school commenced its first academic year with classes KG 1 to Grade 2 on December 1, 2020. XJS hopes to get to high school level by subsequently adding one class at the beginning of every academic year. Supervision of the school is done by members of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) North-West Africa Province in collaboration with dedicated lay teachers and staff from different religious and cultural background.
Based on a legacy which began with the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola and continues through contemporary Ignatian reflections, our Jesuit tradition has fashioned schools to be community of faith, scholarship, and service. It is our hope that Xavier Jesuit School Liberia grows to become a leading institution for holistic education of mind, body and soul. Welcome to the Home of Champions!
